Some of the most difficult family members to please, as many parents may agree, are the teenagers.  The teenage years are difficult as these young people are stuck in the transition between childhood and adulthood.  Do you remember your teen years?  Family dude ranch vacations offer a week of reprieve for teens during those difficult years.  Through activities and atmosphere, family dude ranch vacations are perfect for teens as they are able to stretch their arms of independence while still enjoying a vacation with their family!  Our Colorado dude ranch in particular offers many specialty rides and other activities for teens.  One of the most talked about teen activities offered as a part of our family dude ranch vacations is tubing down the Tarryall!

Yesterday a group of teens and the teen counselor pilled into the suburban with me and I hauled them up stream about 2 miles.  Even before we reached the river the teens were very excited for this float trip through our horse pasture on the Tarryall River.  The car was filled with busy chatter and laughs as everyone anticipated the fun to come!  Once we arrived at the river the teens threw their tubes in and were on their way, floating!

After I dropped the teens and counselor off, I headed back to the ranch.  As I was driving back with my window open all I could hear rising from the river below was a lot of chatter and laughter (and even some singing)!  The teens were simply having a great time!  The float trip takes about an hour and by the time they arrived back at the ranch everyone was full of stories and excitement from their adventure.

Tubing down the Tarryall is truly a great teen activity.  It is one of those special teen activities that the younger kids can’t do and adults are not allowed to do.  Also, it leaves the teens with great memories of the fun and adventure they had on their family vacation at a dude ranch!  A family dude ranch vacation is one of those vacations your children (little to big) will thank you over and over for taking them on!
