Every Friday afternoon there is a big celebration at our Colorado guest ranch of all the horseback rides and fun we have had throughout the week!  Our friends visiting for a week on guest ranch vacations learn a lot about horses and horseback riding throughout their time in our corner of the West.  The guest ranch vacations offered at TRR start out with an orientation ride on Monday and quickly advance to trotting, lopping, all-day rides and an overnight pack trip.  By Friday everyone is walking like a cowboy and has sharpened their riding skills (or developed some skills they never knew they had!).  The Ranch Rodeo is a hoot and great time for our guests to demonstrate their skills and have fun as a group at our last hurrah for the week!

One of our favorite parts of the week that comes out of the Ranch Rodeo is awarding each of the children at our guest ranch a Ranch Rodeo ribbon.  Children ages 3 to 25 all get a Ranch Rodeo ribbon.  Past Ranch Rodeo ribbons include awards such as rodeo princess, speed demon and pole bender.  Many of these awards come from the rodeo but some are just from funny events that have happened throughout the week.  For example, some ribbons we have given out in the past include Chatter Box for that Rough Rider who talks nonstop out on the trails.  Or Miner 49er for that Broncobuster who is certain they are going to find gold in one of the mines they explore.  Watching the children’s faces light up as they receive their ribbon is always a highlight and joy for guests and staff alike at our guest ranch.

The Ranch Rodeo is special time of celebration and the ribbons are great time of reminiscing over the week, but what truly makes this all so very special is the camaraderie and fun had amongst our staff and guests.  What a truly magnificent family vacation!

Till’ next time, happy trails!
