Welcome to a place where ‘Western hospitality‘ is an integral part of everything we do. From the moment we pull on our boots in the morning, our family is ready to make your day relaxing, fun, and memorable.
No need to stress about cooking, cleaning, or planning. We take care of it all! Best yet, everyone in the family has something fun to partake in.
Our Weekly Dude Ranch Schedule:
As a general rule our meal times are 8:00am for breakfast, 12:30pm for lunch, and 6:30 pm for dinner. The times of our horseback rides are posted each morning in the dining room along with a daily schedule. The following is a brief highlight of our week’s activities and events. Remember you are welcome to do as much or as little as you choose.

Sunday: Check in and relax on the porch of your cabin. Enjoy the busyness of the humming birds as you rock peacefully on a porch swing or hammock. Put on your suit and jump in our hot tub and let those muscles soak after a long day. Dinner is at 6:30pm. Afterwards meet us in the Frontier Lodge for a Guest Orientation. Then you can slip into a comfortable bed and enjoy the silence and the cool mountain breeze as you drift into dreams of the Wild West.
Monday: After breakfast, pull on your boots for the morning ride. Monday mornings allow us to get your horse and saddle adjusted just right, and to give you some safety pointers after which we take a short trail ride. Horseback riding lessons offered this morning as well. Have a delicious lunch in the dinning room and at 2:00pm you will enjoy another wonderful ride in the mountains with a spectacular view of Pike’s Peak. Join us outside in the evening for a chicken-and-rib cookout and then brush off your cowboy boots for a night of western dancing down at the Frontier Lodge.

Tuesday: Don’t miss another great breakfast in the dinning room. Then, head down to the barn where you can pick from a multitude of different rides with half-day and all-day options available. From beginner to advanced, there is a ride just right for you! After the ride, grab your suit and take a quick dip in the pool or hot tub before lunch at the pool. There are many choices once again for the afternoon ride to accommodate your riding pleasure. Fly-fishing lessons are directly after the 2:00pm ride today. Meet us at the Frontier Lodge if you want to learn to cast a fly rod! Make sure you leave some time to relax and clean up before dinner. After a great dinner, join us on the Frontier Lodge porch as our Cowboy Singer serenades us all with songs and poetry of the old West.
Wednesday: After breakfast, those who choose to go on the exciting whitewater rafting trip will need to grab a towel and head down to Canon City. There you can raft down the snow-fed Arkansas River and splash through the class II – IV rapids of the Big Horn. It is a family orientated trip open to children 7 & older. What a great break to soothe those aching riding muscles! For folks who choose to stay at the ranch, the rides will go a little longer and faster to explore some of the wild scenery surrounding Tarryall. You may also choose to go on the eight-hour ride to our remote overnight campsite on Allen Creek (minimum of four riders needed and trip is subject to weather conditions). Here, in this gorgeous setting, you can sleep in a tent or under the stars. Lunch on Wednesday is in the dining room for those of you who choose not to go rafting or on the overnight pack trip. Then, its back to the barn for more breathtaking horseback rides. After dinner, head on down to the Frontier Lodge for a fun night of Barn dancing and Square dancing.

Thursday: Catch a hot breakfast and head down to the barn. Our ride options for Thursday include two half-day rides or an all-day ride. Our half-day rides vary with options for trotting and loping. After the morning ride, grab your swimming suit and head to the pool for a nice swim before having lunch at the pool. The overnight returns in time for lunch. Thursday afternoon brings more riding, trap shooting, and you finish the day off with a candlelight dinner for adults, pizza at the pool for teens, and hot dogs at the tepee for the kids. The children get to play games and enjoy a hayride while adults relax over a candlelight wine dinner.

Friday: Fill up on breakfast and head down to the barn. This morning is your last chance to get in that ride you have wanted to do all week! Also, team penning is in the arena this morning for a little timed competition. We split into two teams and see who can cut a few cows from the herd into a separate pen the fastest. This is always a good time with a lot of hootin’ and hollerin’! After lunch in the dining room, head down to the arena where the wranglers will have your horses ready for our ever popular Ranch Rodeo. At the rodeo everyone gets to show off the skills they have acquired and honed throughout the week. Bring your cheering voice and be prepared to have a lot of fun! Then it is a steak cookout, hayride with Bonnie and Blanche and a bonfire at the tepee.
Saturday: Saturday morning is the last opportunity to take a ride with your horse! We begin with a light breakfast of homemade breads and fruit in the dining room, followed by a ride into the National Forest for a real cowboy breakfast cooked over an open flame on top of a beautiful hillside. After breakfast we head back to the Ranch and say our goodbyes to all the great friends we made throughout the week. Pack up all the memories and cowboy boots and remember what we say at the Tarryall River Ranch:
